BLE is now just 5 weeks away, and often catches people out, coming soon after the end of the summer vacation period.
The show celebrated 25 years in 2024 with its highest attendance on record with over 11,000 attendees from 172 countries and more than 1,400 retailers. So if you’re looking to do business in the licensing industry in Europe then the show is not to be missed.
For new attendees check out the agenda for all of the great presentations, panels, mixers and events that are going on.
Looking at this year’s panel presentations there will be a focus on the growth of licensed location based experiences, as well as how Amazon and Mattel are relaunching Masters of the Universe for a new audience. Mattel has been ramping up the activity around the IP for some time with different animated series on Netflix, new toy lines including crossovers with other 80s toy legends Transformers, new digital card games and He-Man’s first official island in Fortnite.
There will be lots of conversations around which properties are likely to hit this Holiday season. Can Wicked sustain product sales for a second year with the new movie? Will the new Pokemon Legends video game drive further sales of other categories? Can Zootopia make it a Happy Holidays for Disney and will the stunt scheduling of the final season of Stranger Things help push product sales?
A lot of attention will be looking much further forward - to 2027, and what are likely to be the big bets. There are video game based movies Sonic, Angry Birds and Zelda, some big anniversaries including Star Wars’ 50th & Smiley’s 30th and big summer movies including Shrek 5, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Star Wars Starfigher, and for the Holidays Disney will be looking to dominate theaters and retail aisles with Frozen 3 and Avengers Secret Wars. Check out our event calendar to see all the big films, TV, games, sports events and anniversaries coming up over the next few years.
As ever there will also be some great gems at the show outside of the major blockbuster film, TV and games that canny partners will find. Who could have foreseen the huge success of the likes of Labubu and Fuggler?
