This weekend saw the Javits Center in Manhattan once again be taken over by fans of all interests for New York Comic-Con. A fantastic opportunity for fans to meet, cosplay and celebrate their favourite fandoms whilst also getting to sit in on exclusive panels, see new footage and indulge in unique shopping experiences.
Here is some of the biggest news to come out of the weekend.
Disney+ series Wonder Man is an MCU comedy series following Simon Williams (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor hoping to land the role of his idol, Wonder Man who befriends fellow auditioning actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley). The series looks like it will lean into the superhero fatigue trend and will debut on Disney+ on January 27, 2026
In other Marvel news Daredevil: Born Again confirmed a third season is coming, and season 2 will be releasing in March 2026 and Vision Quest will be the concluding chapter of a trilogy that started with WandaVisionand continued with Agatha All Along. The series showed some closed door footage that confirmed that James Spader will return as Ultron, reprising his role from 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. A trailer for Season 2 of X-Men ‘97 was also shown at New York Comic Con, which included the return of X-Men baddie Apocalypse. The animated series will return sometime in summer 2026 and will tee up a third season. Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was also announced and will land Fall of 2026
Invincible dropped a trailer for season 4 of the TV series which will debut in March 2026 and the panel involved the revelation that Lee Pace (Foundation) is joining the voice cast as Thragg the Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire.
On the Star Trek side new footage from Strange New Worlds Season 4 and brand new series StarFleet Academy were released. Star Trek is doing well building a new TV universe for the 2020s, but when will we hear news of a new movie?
The new Westeros Universe show - A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - released a full trailer for the show. Set between The House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones it follows the adventures of the hedge knight Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall and his small squire of unique origins, Egg.
Predator Badlands unveiled its final trailer for the film which comes out on November 7. Looking to recross the streams of the Alien and Predator franchises and coming off the well received Alien Earth series this could be another new avenue for the franchises to explore.
In licensing specific news it was announced that the latest IP to be given the Magic: The Gathering treatment is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles along with a ‘first look’ trailer to go with it. The collection lands on March 6 2026.
The Interview with the Vampire season 3 has been retitled The Vampire Lestat for its third season and dropped a trailer showing how the series will further explore Anne Rice's Immortal Universe.
Mercy Movie starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson dropped its first trailer envisaging a future where the US justice system is run by AI. The movie releases on January 23 2026.
Backyard Sports announced it will be completing its Backyard Sports retro collection with Backyard Basketball '01 and Backyard Hockey '02 in mid-November and that it would be revealing the "all-star" cast of its new animated special early in November. The special will be released at Dave & Buster's Inc. in early 2026 and direct to consumer shortly afterwards.
