Maureen Claffy

Chicago-born artist Maureen Claffy produces large scale, mixed-media modern art that speaks to the soul. Her work pairs reverence for what spiritually connects us - family, love, friendship - with a commitment to rich color and vivid form. Blending watercolor, fluid acrylic, colored pencil and ink, Claffy has created a signature aesthetic capable of expressing deep emotion and celebrating beauty that engenders understanding and human connection. After taking her first life drawing class in Aix-en-Provence, France in 1985, Claffy spent the following years prolifically creating a portfolio of work that includes large canvas paintings, collage, watercolor on paper, and sketch work. Her work hangs in the homes of private collectors in Dubai, France, The Czech Republic, Scotland, England and Ireland. Maureen has created multiple series of work for the The Drake Hotel in Oak Brook, a Marriott Property in the Autograph Collection, Illinois. Her work has been translated onto high quality scarves and athleisure wear. A member of The Arts Club of Chicago, The River North Design District in Chicago, The County Line Design Center in Hinsdale and ,a former resident artist at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, Maureen is represented by the Virgil Catherine Gallery and Celestial Art Curation in Hinsdale, Illinois. Maureen successfully licenses her work nationwide through Serenity Home Goods on Amazon.com, iCanvas.com, Threadless.com and P. Graham Dunn in the United States and Australia. She actively collaborates with manufacturers to custom innovate her art to bring on-trend products to market.
