Randy Arozarena - Seattle Mariners / Team Mexico (Instagram: 708K, X: 40.2K) Randy Arozarena is a left fielder for the Seattle Mariners. On July 26, 2024 Randy was traded to the Seattle Mariners from the Tampa Bay Rays. In 2020, Randy was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays after a brief stint with the St. Louis Cardinals. Over 23 games for the 2020 season, Arozarena batted .281 with seven home runs and 11 RBIs. In Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros, Arozarena hit a two-run home run, surpassing Evan Longoria for most home runs by a rookie in the postseason. Arozarena was named the MVP of the ALCS, becoming the first rookie position player to win the award. In the series, he hit .321 with four home runs and six RBIs. In the World Series, Arozarena hit home runs in the third, fourth, and sixth games, breaking the all-time record for most home runs in a single postseason. In Game 3, he surpassed Derek Jeter for most hits by a rookie in the postseason. In Game 5, he recorded his 27th hit in the postseason, surpassing Pablo Sandoval for the most hits in a single postseason. Arozarena attributed his playoff power stroke to wearing a special pair of lucky cowboy boots, which he calls his "power boots". For the 2021 season, Arozarena batted .274/.356/.459 with 20 home runs, 69 RBIs, 20 stolen bases and 129 OPS+ in 141 games. During game one of the 2021 ALDS against the Boston Red Sox, Arozarena became the first player to hit a home run and steal home in the same game during the playoffs. Following the season's end, Arozarena won the AL Rookie of the Year Award, becoming the first Ray to do so since 2013. In 2022 while he stole 32 bases (tied for third in the majors) he also led the major leagues in caught stealing with 12; he batted .269/.344/.463 with a solid 124 OPS+. After his defection from Cuba, Randy was granted citizenship in Mexico where he would then join the Mexican National team for the World Baseball Classic. Randy has a daughter who was born in Mexico and he will continue to represent Mexico nationally in her honor as a thank you for the opportunities the country has given him throughout his career. For his performances in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, he was named the Most Valuable Player of Pool C. He willed his team as far as the semis where they would lose a very close game to Japan. After playing in the WBC for Mexico for his first year, his Instagram following grew exponentially from about 126K to 700K+ in approximately 2 weeks. As a reward for their historic performance at the 2023 WBC, Team Mexico was given the Premio Nacional de Deportes 2023, or National Prize for Sports, for professional sports. The honor was bestowed by Mexico’s National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport. Team Mexico members will receive a gold medal from President López Obrador. Randy received his first All-Star selection in 2023 in Seattle, where he also participated in the Home Run Derby, against all odds he made it to the finals, nearly beating out the eventual champion Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in an epic battle. During August, Randy became the first player in Rays franchise history with 20+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases in three consecutive seasons. Becoming the first MLB player to record three straight 20-20 seasons to begin his career. On July 26, 2024 Randy was traded to the Seattle Mariners. He added to this streak in his Mariners debut, hitting one home run and adding a stolen base to his yearly total. Randy finished the 2024 season with 20+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases. He now has 4 consecutive seasons with this achievement. Randy got off to a slow start in 2025, but has started to look like himself in the month of June, slashing .260/.377/.380 over his last 14 games. He started the month off with a walk-off single to beat the Twins. He was then selected for the All-Star for the second time in his career, following a scorching hot start to June where he hit 7 home runs in 11 games. His clutch performance during the final stretch of the season helped lift the Seattle Mariners to the first ALCS berth in over 20 years and the fans quickly were supporting “Playoff Randy”.
