

Mike Tauchman is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Chicago White Sox. In high school, Tauchman played baseball and football, where he played quarterback and safety. He led a second half comeback against future NFL quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in a game during his senior year. He enrolled at Bradley University and played college baseball for the Bradley Braves. In 2013, his senior year, he won the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Year Award. The Colorado Rockies selected Tauchman in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB draft before trading him to the New York Yankees in 2019. During his time in New York, Tauchman was known as the "sock man" and was a fan favorite for the historic franchise. In April 2021, the Yankees traded Tauchman to the San Francisco Giants for pitcher Wandy Peralta. Tauchman traveled overseas last year after signing a one-year contract with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization. While in South Korea, Tauchman had 575 at-bats in 144 games with a .289 batting average. In 2024, Tauchman proved to be the ultimate swiss army knife for the Cubs, finishing the year hitting .248 and playing multiple positions. Cubs fans have celebrated Tauchman’s return, as he has quickly took over as the team’s starting center fielder and has solidified himself as leadoff hitter in the lineup. Mike was put on the IL in June of this season. Once he was reactivated in August, he would make an immediate impact in helping the Cubs work their way back into the playoff picture. In the offseason, Mike would change teams but stay in his hometown, signing with the Chicago White Sox. In 2025 with the White Sox, Mike has been very impressive, slashing .273/.381/.500 with 4 home runs. He had an OPS of 1.058 over the final 8 games in May after missing most of the month due to an injury.
