

Antrel Rolle is a former NFL defensive back who played for the Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, and Chicago Bears. Born on December 16, 1982, in Homestead, Florida, Rolle was a standout player at the University of Miami from 2001 to 2004 under coach Larry Coker. During his college career, he started all four years and was a key contributor to the Hurricanes' 2001 BCS National Championship victory. His accolades at Miami include being named First-team All-Big East in 2002, First-Team All-ACC in 2004, Unanimous All-American in 2004, and winning the prestigious Jack Tatum Trophy in 2004, awarded to the nation’s best collegiate defensive back. Rolle was selected 8th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 1st round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played for the Cardinals from 2005 to 2009, earning his first Pro Bowl selection in 2009. That year, he played a pivotal role in the Cardinals' defense during their wild card victory over the Green Bay Packers. On March 5, 2010, Rolle signed with the New York Giants, becoming the highest-paid safety in the NFL at the time. He played as the starting safety for the Giants from 2010 to 2014, making an immediate impact on the team. In 2011, Rolle was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl after a strong season where he recorded 87 combined tackles, four pass deflections, and an interception. That same year, he helped lead the Giants to a Super Bowl XLVI victory, defeating the New England Patriots 21-17. Rolle's success continued, and in 2013, he earned his third Pro Bowl selection after setting career-highs in multiple statistical categories, including 98 combined tackles, 12 pass deflections, six interceptions, and two sacks in 16 games and starts. Following the 2014 season, Rolle was traded to the Chicago Bears, where he played one season before retiring on November 7, 2016. After retiring from professional football, Rolle has been active in community service, particularly in initiatives to mentor young athletes and give back to his hometown in Miami-Dade County. His legacy as a player is marked not only by his on-field achievements but also by his leadership and commitment to the game, both during and after his playing career.
