Mike Martinet Representational Art
A life-long resident of the Southwest, Mike Martinet has lived in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Desert sunlight, comic book graphics, and American culture inspire much of his art. His mediums are pen-and-ink, vector graphic applications, acrylic paint, and watercolor.
Mike's Representational art comes from explorations of various southwestern cities, coastal areas, small towns, and adjacent deserts. Interesting architecture, cars, characters, colors, shadow effects, graphic design, and an occasional touch of humor inspire his work.
This work is an expression of American life as Mike sees it. He takes or discovers photos that tell a story. "There is so much beauty in what might at first appear ordinary. It’s there in the light, shadow, composition and color; and in that sense of place and memories evoked.”
